The “get the government out of your face Republicans” are once again trying to get into your bedroom. In the interest of supporting the Catholic Church’s stance on contraception, Republicans are attempting to exempt Catholic institutions from providing contraception to the female employees under employee health insurance programs. This is a big deal as Catholic institutions employee hundreds of thousands of women who are not necessarily Catholic, and even many of those who are use birth control.
Former Republican Senator and Presidential candidate Rick Santorum’s position on birth control seems to be spreading to Republicans on Capitol Hill. On February 16th, Republican’s conducting a hearing on contraception barring female witnesses from advocating in favor of free access to birth control under the new health care law.

Senator Cornyn has joined his male Republican counterparts in the House by calling for withdrawal of the mandate to provide free birth control to women. You can see it for yourself here.
