Senator Cornyn Joins Coalition of the Heartless, the Clueless and the Confused

Paul Krugman explains the difference in todays New York Times. It’s a good read and I highly recommend it, particularly if you agree with Senator Cornyn’s three votes against the extension of jobless benefits.

I don’t think Senator Cornyn is confused. I also don’t believe he is clueless. I do believe he has an emotional disconnect with his constituents. I guess that puts him in the heartless category.  He’s a silver spoon type of guy from a very privileged background. In spite of cowboy hat, fringed cowboy jacket, jeans and boots, I would be very surprised if he’s ever had a callous on his hands or broke a sweat doing manual labor. Senator Cornyn walks the fence rows in his ads and wear’s the cowboy outfits because he wants you to believe he’s in touch with the hard working people of Texas. Texas unemployment is running over 8%. That’s a lot of Texas families struggling to get by, but suddenly Senator Cornyn is more worried about the deficit than Texans. Obviously he’s out-of-touch as he  supports a war that’s costing Texans billions, but can’t see the justice in setting aside funds for extending unemployment benefits.

Senator Cornyn always has an excuse or a belief that prevents him from working for Texans; Texas deserves better! Don’t forget to read the op-ed column here so you can understand why Senator Cornyn is wrong – again.
