War Against the Jobless – Senator Cornyn Votes No Again and Leaves for Vacation!

It’s hard to keep track of how often Senator Cornyn votes no so let me help. He voted against the extension of jobless unemployment benefits  for the third time this week and then went home to celebrate the 4th of July.  Senator Cornyn and the Republican Party have entered into a cultural war against the middle class, the unemployed, the old and the jobless.

Across in the House of Representative this week, the Republican leader in the house, Congressman John Boehner, is advocating deep cuts in Social Security benefits and medicare including moving the retirement age to 70. Why? So we can pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don’t know how the Republicans benefit from being mean. I guess the influence of Wall Street, big corporations, and the super rich is so great that Republicans can ignore those who elect them.

There is a way to stop it. Middle class conservatives who constitute the Republican base can throw out the Republican incumbents in November. It’s time to send a message. Texans count too!
