Senator John Cornyn Votes Against Jobless Again
Create a mess and ignore it – the Republican way!
It’s heartless, out of touch and perhaps even mean spirited. 1.2 million Americans are unemployed and trying to survive the most severe economic crisis since the Depression. The economic collapse was caused by Bush era war mongering and financial deregulation. Senator Cornyn was a strong supporter of the Bush mess and is showing no remorse now. In fact, he is advocating more tax cuts for business. The estate tax has been pushed to zero. Senator Cornyn supports the extension Bush tax cuts for the richest two percent of Americans even though they enjoy the lowest tax rates in forty years. Senator Cornyn – there is two sides to an accounting ledger and you’re going to have to work both sides to balance the budget, which is apparently a newly discovered priority.
Really? Is it enough that he’s pro-gun and pro-life? Does that give Senator Cornyn the right to ignore Texans who are fighting for their homes, trying to put food on their table, provide for their families? Why do you support the Senator when he hasn’t done a damn thing for you in eight years?
Personally I find it disgusting that Senator Cornyn is drawing a line in the sand over the federal deficit. That doesn’t make sense when the defense budget is approaching 700 billion dollars and we’re fighting, for what, in Afghanistan. Senator Cornyn is so stupid. He knows that extending jobless benefits or passing a jobs bill to keep teachers, fire fighters, and police officers employed is a drop in a very large bucket with regard to the deficit.
In reality Senator Cornyn is fighting a war against the Obama administration and if it means ignoring the needs of Texans then so-be-it. It’s Republican power and corporate greed he’s fighting for. It’s not Texans!
